Last night I had the pleasure to attend an invite only dinner at Sullivans sponsored by Hennessy with Love & Hip Hop star Olivia, along with Azikwe Devaux (E4GP & MIRAGE) , Kelson (92Q & Urban Informer) , Joi Marie and Mia (Fabempire.com ) as well as Michael and Agnes of Hennessy and Olivia’s manager, Rich Dollars, who you all familiar with from the show. When Olivia arrived we got right down to business!! 

We had candid conversation with Olivia about the show, her career and her love Life. Of course I had to ask her about  how she is portrayed on the show as far as her seeming like a mean girl to Somaya, being 2 faced to Chrissy and thinking she is owed a recording contract! And yes I asked her about the twitter beef between her and Mama Jones! Before the interview I had already had my mind set that Olivia was a mean girl, but she proved me wrong! During the interview her personality won me over, she was very straight forward and didn’t sugar coat anything!

 

After dinner we headed over to the Grand Opening of MIRAGE, #SwaguSundays! Olivia partied and took pictures with fan. The club was packed! The Ravens were also in the building celebrating their Playoff win against the Texans!!

Ashley:: I have to asked about the recent twitter beef with you and Mama Jones. … Has it affected your relationship with Jim Jones & Chrissy :

Olivia:: (Mama Jones page was not hacked) Why would u RT it on your page, if it wasn’t you. So someone hacked into your page the next day and retweeted it? Like come on, you’re a grown ass old woman. (But it’s chrissy/jim’s mom).It has nothing to do it. Chrissy called me. I don’t care. she still a grown up. I’m a grown up too. Your not going to disrespect me, and sit their and take it. I don’t care who’s mother you are. So, at the end of the day Jim follows me, chrissy follows me so if anybody had a problem, they would have said something to me. Chrissy called Rich. She actually thought I started it because mama jones had deleted all her tweets. You see all of hers. You see my one. Well, then Chrissy was like ‘oh, i didn’t know. well i’m going to talk to her’. It’s no reason to talk to her. she’s a grown up. she did it because she wanted to do it for whatever reason.

Ashley:: What is her beef with you? Is it all about the proposal?

Olivia:: Clearly. It was nothing else. But its like why? I don’t even understand that. If Chrissy didn’t want to trust you with that, that’s not my problem. It’s between you and Chrissy.

Kelson:: I think the new beef came from you mocking her on the last episode (made fun of her voice)

Olivia:: Everybody mocks her.Its not my fault she sound like a lady with a cigarette thing in your voice. That’s how you sound. But that wasn’t nothing. I didn’t diss you. That’s how you sound boo.

Mia:: Off The Show, Who’s your actual friend

Olivia:: Chrissy. Yandy is my friend also. I’ve actually known Yandy the longest. Ive known Yandy for 8 years, She’s been apart of my management crew when I was at Violator. So, we’ve had a longer history before anybody. I’m cool with Emily.

Kelson:: The beef with Yandy/Chrissy-where did it come from? Is it real?

Olivia:: Of course it is! I have no idea where it came from. Because I figured if your with Jim for 7 years and Yandy has managed you for the same amount of time that you guys wouldn’t have any issues, so I figured you guys should be really good friend by now, but..I hope that they can mend it but I dont know how much they can that she is not even managing Jim anymore but..

Do you think it’s a jealousy thing

Olivia:: Yea, I actually do. For Chrissy. I feel like..Before she got the proposal, she just wanted to feel like she was number 1 , so if you add another girl into the element who’s doing most of the stuff for him, she might feel a way and that’s probably because she didn’t have her ring…didn’t have her validation or whatever, so

Ashley:: Do you believe they are (Chrissy & Jim)  really going to get married anytime soon?

Olivia:: *stops* Umm, I really can’t speak on that

Outside of the reality show and your album, what are you working on

Olivia:: I’ve had an acting coach for about 2 years now…done 2 movies (Conspiracy X, People-just got picked up by WB and will re-shoot more scenes)…also working on a book but don’t want to share the title because you might steal it because its amazing (inspirational book-everything she has been in in the industry, her family and advice for younger women who want to be in her position & her love life)

Olivia on the show’s editing:

You can’t do want you want to do, they want you to do what’s good for the ratings or what they think the viewers want to see. So if you shoot them ideas-they think people dont want to see that…like they thought people didnt wanna see my music and then when it came on they felt like assholes. They swear they know everything until the episodes comes out and they realize they were wrong.

Ashley: As far as your family life, how has your relationship changed with your mother ?

Olivia:: It’s not the way they make it seem. I said how my mom used to write me letters all the time and it bothered me very much because we didnt have a speaking relationship. We’ve always had a good relationship but she just never knew how to convey anything to me. Like anything you can think of, I spoke about it with my dad. I will always say I’m a daddy’s girl. I would go anywhere with my father-clubs. My mom and I just never had a…I dont wanna say a normal mother/daughter relationship because I did all of that growing up, but it was when i got to a teenager, she just didnt know how to express herself with me. So, it was never a bad relationship…west indians are raised differently and its a different type of culture so when people be like you hated your mom, like yu gotta understand. it’s hard to explain

Ashley:: How does she feel about that episode?

Olivia:: She was a little upset because she got the news back wrong. she didnt watch that episode but i told her mom, we didnt have that relationship that i always wanted . I had to write a letter back to you in order for you to hear what I as saying. she just felt like she didnt want to say something to me verbally, and piss me off so she would rather write it and let me see it. you don’t know someone’s tone from a piece of paper so that’s where our issues would really come from.other than that, she was a wonderful mother. I  just wanted to be able to sit there talk freely, like I am talking with you guys, to my mom.

The guy in your twitter profile-is that the guy your in love with?

Olivia:: Yes. his name is Torrence Kenzi (*sp). We both have the same Twitter profile. He made me change mine because he changed his. He told me ‘tweet it so I ts real’. I said okay babe, If that makes you happy, I’ll  change mines too (laughter)

Kelson::Basketball wives?

Olivia:: Never in hell. I would never. No way

Will you have a spin off or an episode with him

Olivia:: No because its not something I really tell everybody about unless he’s tweeting me and I tweet it to him. I purposely didn’t put him on the show beecause the way they try to depict people or try to pick apart people’s relationship to make it look a certain way. I refuse to have them do to that in my personal life when my relationship is held in high regards to the both of u, to have somebody damage that.

Ashley:: Reality shows  have been called  fake, I call them situation based. How would describe it?

Olivia:: The only thing I will say is we are in no way fake but they do put you in situations like, foresay they say we are going to have a dinner today, but we’re not gonna tell you who’se there but we need you here at such a such time. So you get there and its the asshole you don’t like so your gonna give the reaction they want but thats just not what you wanted to do. so they put u in situations that you wouldn’t be in..for instance, the showcase with that girl (Somaya). Of course, i told her to her face that i wasn’t going to go and clearly that means i wasnt going. but because we’re taping the show they forced me and asked me to go but nobody thinks ahead. In the public they think ‘oh Olivia still went anyway. You just went to hate.’ No, stupid! We’re shooting a show we are heer to entertain you. Obviously the producers asked me to come and do the showcase. I clearly told the girl to her face so I wasn’t hiding anything. She knew how I still felt from season 1 to now. I’m very good with telling you how I feel.

Ashley:: Do you think it was rather mean (telling Somaya you wouldn’t come to her show)?

Olivia:: No, how is that mean? That’s telling you how I feel. I’m not going to front because the cameras are in front of me. Imma tell you exactly what it is. so if I say it behind your back its not something else and everybody can be like, ‘why u aint tell her to her face’. I’m not afraid of anybody.

Talking to Olivia in person, is totally different from the Olivia we see on the show

Olivia:: “And that’s why it bothers me. but again, they want us to entertain you so they make everybody’s character a certain way.

 You say they dont portray you in the right light, but your still there. You must enjoy it?

Olivia:: Well I have to still be in it because your in a contract for this season. Now the next season is coming up and you re-negotiate for another contract if your going to do it again. I, personally didn’t want to do this season. He asked me (pointing to Rich), well actually he forced me to do it. he was like “no this would be good. you just did season 1 . You should at least do a season 2 for people to get to know you.” I agree, but when you see all the extra editing, thats when you start to think different. Some is negative. Some is positive. You gotta take the good with the bad.
