AALIYAH’S BROTHER SAYS THERE WILL BE NO NEW ALBUM!
August 25th 2012 will mark the 11 year anniversary since the tragic passing of singer, actress Aaliyah. Over the years there has been much talk of an Aaliyah biopic and recently a new album. Earlier this week Blackground Music released “Enough Said” by Aaliyah, featuring Drake. For those of you who don’t know Blackground was Aaliyah’s label owned by her her uncle Barry Hankerson. Today Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton took to Aaliyah’s official fan page to shut down the rumors of a new album.
“there is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family.” -Rashad Haughton (regarding upcoming album release rumors)
In the past Rashad (who had to finish voice overs for Aaliyah’s last movie role, Queen Of The Damned after her passing) has also shut down rumors of their being an Aaliyah Biopic.
Growing up I was thee biggest Aaliyah fan, so for her family not to support any new work about her is very sad. I think a movie would be great, to educate younger people on the influence that Aaliyah had and to share her life story (which remains mysterious) with the fans that loved and supported her.
Either way, if the Haughton’s don’t think it’s a good idea, then we will keep on wishing!
