At the start of summer, GMA news anchor Robin Roberts announced her struggle with MDS and wrote an inspiring open letter to fans sharing her plans to fight and beat this disease of the blood. Today she announced that she plans on starting her treatment next week and that her last day is this coming Friday, but fans don’t worry..she’ll be back. It’s just a medical leave of absence.

According to TMZ, “Roberts says her sister is the bone marrow donor … explaining, “[she] is a perfect match and she’s been spending a lot of time with me.  She’s been taking shots to help her prepare.”

She also says, “I know I’ll have a job when I come back.”

Our prayers are with Robin during this difficult time and we truly wish her the best…and we’re very excited for her that her sister will be close during the procedures.
