With elections right around the corner people everywhere have been encouraging the importance of making your vote. All types of campaign come about to educate us on our rights to vote including rapper 2 Chainz, who is advocating the “Respect My Vote” campaign. Respect My Vote is to educate and possibly register convicted felons on how to become registered voters.

Although it is too late to register for this election if you haven’t already done so, knowledge is still power plus there is always future elections.

2 Chainz sits down with BET’s “Don’t Sleep” with host T.J Holmes to discuss voting, voter suppression and why he feels its important to use his celebrity to influence and inform the community, particularly felons.

“I remember being in the mall around ’08 and lady just telling me, ‘Come sign up to vote,’ and I just felt it was too late; I made a mistake when I was young and just couldn’t fix it.I realized that you can vote again once you’re a felon,” says 2 Chainz
