Last Friday, I had the opportunity of a lifetime!! I was asked to do red carpet interviews at the Howard Theatre’s 2nd Annual Gala & Benefit concert honoring some of the most legendary women in music,Valarie Simpson (Ashford & Simpson), Dionne Warwick and one of my favorites, Chaka Khan!!!
These legends have careers that span for decades and they all looked SUPERGORGE, like the real kind! As each of them hit the PURPLE carpet, I asked them how they have maintained such longevity, what advice would they give to our up and coming artists and what songs have they recorded/written that defines their careers!!
I have to admit I was most excited to interview Chaka Khan, who wouldn’t be?!?!? She and Diana Ross have always been my DIVA inspiration, BIG hair don’t care!! She looks the same or even better than I remember her ever looking when I was a young girl. We of course talked about her recent dramatic weight loss, her month long birthday celebrations all over the country and what she thinks about people saying that she and rapper Nicki Minaj look alike! MIGUEL SAYS FRANK OCEAN DIDN’T DESERVE A GRAMMY STANDING OVATION

TMZ caught up with singer Miguel and asked him about his defeat from Grammy winner Frank Ocean. Miguel said he is very competitive and it was hard to be gracious in his defeat, but congratulated his opponent none the less.
However, when he was asked if he had it to do over, would he stand to give Frank a standing ovation? He blatantly said, NO! Welp, there you have it guys. The shade is real on these streets. As we all know Chris Brown did budge and [barely] clapped for Frank. I’m sure that’s because they put the paws on each other right before the Grammys. But, why so salty Miguel? Hmmmm. We hope there is a story we can develop here… Besitos!

SUPERGORGE BLACK HISTORY: REMEMBERING BARBARA JORDAN

Barbara Jordan was born February 21, 1936 and sadly departed her life on January 17, 1996.
We celebrate all of her accomplishments and thank her for leading a brighter future for African Americans today!
Ms. Jordan was the first African American elected as a Texas state senate after Reconstruction. She was also the first black woman from the south to be elected to serve as a State Representative.
She was an American politician and leader in the civil rights movement.
Amongst her many accomplishment. she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
She lead the way for black people to have a voice in politics , thank you Barbara Jordan!
