Yesterday I had the wonderful experience of interviewing Kelly Rowland. Kelly had been in the DC area over the Memorial Day weekend to promote her upcoming 4th solo album, TALK A GOOD GAME, due out on June 18th.
With me being a fan of Destiny’s Child since the beginning, this was definitely a dream come true interview. Kelly told me about her new found confidence that she’s been exuding this year, what Beyonce’s really thinks about Dirty Laundry, X Factor and what else we can expect from the Talk A Good Game album.

Last Friday, I had the opportunity of a lifetime!! I was asked to do red carpet interviews at the Howard Theatre’s 2nd Annual Gala & Benefit concert honoring some of the most legendary women in music,Valarie Simpson (Ashford & Simpson), Dionne Warwick and one of my favorites, Chaka Khan!!!
These legends have careers that span for decades and they all looked SUPERGORGE, like the real kind! As each of them hit the PURPLE carpet, I asked them how they have maintained such longevity, what advice would they give to our up and coming artists and what songs have they recorded/written that defines their careers!!
I have to admit I was most excited to interview Chaka Khan, who wouldn’t be?!?!? She and Diana Ross have always been my DIVA inspiration, BIG hair don’t care!! She looks the same or even better than I remember her ever looking when I was a young girl. We of course talked about her recent dramatic weight loss, her month long birthday celebrations all over the country and what she thinks about people saying that she and rapper Nicki Minaj look alike! This week I had a little chat with rapper Kirko Bangz, who is currently covering XXL Magzine for the 2013 Freshman list!! Kirko talks about feeling as though he’s the most underrated artist out right now and says that unlike Kanye & A$AP Rocky you won’t catch him rocking full leather outfits or kilts as outfits. He describes his fashion as “playa.” Kirko also talks about recently being asked to be on Beyonce’s BOW DOWN Remix and then not making the final cut. The Houston rapper/singer also told me that he was recently robbed by groupies for $8,000. SMH, BBD told us a long time ago not to trust a big but with a smile, lol! Earlier this week I had the chance to chop it up with new artist Ravaughn at the DTLR/Direct Drive record pool meeting in Washington DC at Bar 7.
Ravaughn is the newest artist signed to Neyo’s Compound Records/Columbia, hailing from Los Angeles. Currently Ravaughn’s single, BETTER BE GOOD, featuring Wale is heating up the charts and the video recently debuted. Not only is this girl SUPERGORGE, she also seems very down to earth, can REALLY sing live and has some feistiness to her. While performing she was playful, yet with a straight face took a pause while some members of the crowd were talking, and told them she’d wait until they were done (Lol).

On Friday August 10th,2012 Ashley and L’Ore’al of Team Supergorge, hit the Howard Theater in Washington DC , to watch new artist Elle Varner perform. As she performed the audience sang along with songs from Elle’s Mixtape Conversational Lush and from her debut album Perfectly Imperfect. Last month I sat down with actress , reality star and author Tia Mowry to talk about her new book OH BABY: Pregnancy Tales and Advice from One Hot Mama to Another , while she was visiting DC for the Baby Bash Bling Expo! I shared with Tia that I was expecting my second child and how this pregnancy was VERY different from my first. She shared tips on morning (all day sickness), balancing work, mommy hood and being a wife as well as what advice she’s now sharing with her twin sister,Tamera, who is 5 months pregnant and expecting a boy! Yesterday L’Oreal and I had the chance to chat with Diggy Simmons at his in store for his new album at DTLR in Columbia Mall. When we arrived the line was literally wrapped around the outside of the mall. Inside the store their were hundreds are screaming girls (and some cougars lol) waiting for their chance to get his autograph and a hug.
