SUPERGORGE BLACK HISTORY: REMEMBERING BARBARA JORDAN

Barbara Jordan was born February 21, 1936 and sadly departed her life on January 17, 1996.

We celebrate all of her accomplishments and thank her for leading a brighter future for African Americans today!

Ms. Jordan was the first African American elected as a Texas state senate after Reconstruction. She was also the first black woman from the south to be elected to serve as a State Representative.

She was an American politician and leader in the civil rights movement.

Amongst her many accomplishment. she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

She lead the way for black people to have a voice in politics , thank you Barbara Jordan!

The SUPERGORGE , Vanessa Williams was born March 18, 1963. At the age of 20, Vanessa became the 1st African American to be crowned , Miss America,in 1983. She later had her crown taken away from her, due to nude photos being released that she had done prior to being crowned.
