HMMMM! DAMON DASH IS CO-PRODUCING AALIYAH’S NEW ALBUM WITH DRAKE!!

In another twist to the upcoming Aaliyah album, Blackground Music (Aaliyah’s label) says that along with Drake and Noah Shebib, Damon Dash who was Aaliyah’s boyfriend and CEO of Roc A Fella Records, at the time of her untimely death, will help produce Aaliyah’s upcoming album!
Hmmmm not to sure how I feel about this one! As a true Aaliyah fan, I am very happy that 12 years after her death we will get to hear some new music , but leaving Missy and Timbaland out of the loop was all wrong, Drakes crazy obsession and now this Damon Dash news. While I’m sure he and Aaliyah were deeply in love when she passed, Dame married (and later divorced) designer Rachel Roy after Aaliyah’s death, who he previously had a relationship with (that didn’t sit right with me) and Dame’s career has been sort of non existent since her split with Jay Z. I hope his efforts on this Aaliyah are for the sake of her legacy and not his on motives of trying to make a comeback!

August 25th 2012 will mark the 11 year anniversary since the tragic passing of singer, actress Aaliyah. Over the years there has been much talk of an Aaliyah biopic and recently a new album. Earlier this week Blackground Music released “Enough Said” by Aaliyah, featuring Drake. For those of you who don’t know Blackground was Aaliyah’s label owned by her her uncle Barry Hankerson. Today Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton took to Aaliyah’s official fan page to shut down the rumors of a new album. Continue reading
