It’s my favorite time of the year again!!! If you all know me or follow me on social media networks, then you know that the Christmas season is my absolutely favorite time of the year. This year has been an extremely difficult one for me. I’ve dealt with a break in, depressions, a rushed move, family issues, weight gain and a lot of self doubt. Around this time of year I’m usually filled with holiday cheer and doing my part to spread it around. SuperGorge Christmas is very personal for us and we take weeks getting everything done perfectly for our selected families. With my spirits being so low lately,I honestly didn’t believe that this year I would be up to doing our annual #SUPERGORGECHRISTMAS. But I know that no matter how hard of a time I am having, one of my purposes in life is to give back and be a blessing to someone else.
In 2011 IAMSUPERGORGE.com started A SUPERGORGE CHRISTMAS. My belief is that every child deserves to have a smile on their face on Christmas morning and I know that during these hard economic times it is becoming harder and harder for some families to have a joyous Christmas, so we are here to help!! We’ve made sure that our past recipient families have received everything that they wanted on their Christmas List including toys, shoes, coats, decorations, full Christmas Dinner and more. Team SuperGorge, along with DJ QuickSilva, has hand delivered hundreds of gifts and a full Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve to our selected families.
For Christmas 2015, IAMSUPERGORGE.COM along with The Silva Lining Foundation and Special Delivery Holiday Celebration and Toy Drive ( The Finn Group, The Carpenter House, Paul Gardner, The Flywire, Marcy Crump and more), would like to offer a deserving family in the Baltimore area a SUPERGORGE CHRISTMAS!
To be considered you must send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, explaining why your family (or a family you know) deserves a SuperGorge Christmas by 12pm on Monday December 14th, 2015. The recipient family will be contacted no later than 5pm on December 14th, 2015.
If you would like to donate or volunteer for A SUPERGORGE CHRISTMAS, please join us at SPECIAL DELIVERY HOLIDAY CELEBRATION & TOY DRIVE, THURSDAY, December 17th, 2015 at the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, MD from 6pm-10pm. If you attend and are donating to SUPERGORGE Christmas, please label your donation “SuperGorge.” If you all have any questions email us at email@example.com.

Thank you so much to all of you who have reached out to me after my post last week about the break-in at my house. It’s something that I am still healing from. I am grateful and humbled by my readers outpour of support. You guys continue to remind me that while at times I may feel down and out, I am touching many of you. Thank you!!
While on “hiatus” from IAMSUPERGORGE.com, on of my dearest friends, Keisha, got engaged. She and her now fiance, Jameel, share the same exact birthday (awwww) and he proposed during their 30th birthday brunch. It was a super sweet and thoughtful proposal and the ring is SUPERGORGE!!
Last week, Keisha and I, along with some of our other girlfriends who will be apart of the bridal party, went to visit the location where the wedding will be held and to meet with the wedding planner. I’m so excited to be apart of this wedding. These 2 are a great couple and the wedding will be amazing. While discussing some of Keisha’s plans for the wedding, it got me to thinking about the Do’s and Don’ts of wedding planning.
Most women (some men) envision (and some even plan) their dream wedding way before they get the ring. You want it to be beautiful and amazing, truly a day to remember. While it should be all of these things and more, here are a few tips I have for brides-to-be planning their big day!
1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7291934th, remember this is YOUR (and by your I mean you AND him) day, make sure it remains about you two. Throw out the notions of what “they say,” (ie your ring should cost 3 month’s pay, you should get married in your families church, your dress must be white, etc ). Who the f*ck are “they” anyway? There are no concrete rules into what YOU should for your wedding ,except for doing what you want. If you want to wear a yellow mini dress instead of a white gown, that’s your prerogative. When you look back at your wedding, I want you to say, “that was so us.” While you cherish their opinions and want them there to be an ear for the planning process, it’s not your mom’s, grandma’s or best friends wedding. Their opinion is just that, an opinion.
Choosing your wedding party (bridesmaids) can be tricky. Many of us have different friends, from different times in our lives, ie. childhood friends, friends from college, work buddies, etc. Make sure the people you have standing behind you as you take your vows, will be ones who will support you throughout the many highs and lows of marriage. If you only have 2 good girlfriends that you know you can always depend on, having only those 2 in your wedding is perfectly fine. If you have 20 girls you depend on for support frequently, then having a big wedding party is for you. Keep in mind when choosing your bridal party that being a bridesmaid comes with a hefty price tag (dresses, shoes, hair, makeup, travel, bridal shower and bachelorette parties) as well as time commitments, so make sure they know this upfront, so that later on down the line there isn’t conflict between your bridesmaids or you and them.
Don’t be a brideszilla!!! Easier said than done, I know. This is your day and your family and friends want to help this be as stress-free as possible for you, don’t give them a hard time. Things will go wrong, but more than likely they will work themselves out. Delegate certain roles for your planner, parents and bridal party. Understand that while this is the number 1 priority to you right now, others still have a thousand things going on in their lives. If they are consistently slacking on their duties, let them know that you will assign someone to that task and you also may need to re think their role in your wedding.
After the bridal party is all set, comes the guest list!!! This is where things can get tricky, narrowing down a list. Some people prefer a small intimate wedding of 20 people, while some choose opulence and have 400 hundred guest. Again, it’s your wedding and completely your choice. But remember food and beverage is 50% of your wedding budget. On average (could be lower or higher) you’ll end up spending about $150 per plate. I’d suggest not inviting anyone who you haven’t frequently communicated with during the duration of your relationship and no one you haven’t been in contact within the 6 months before you were engaged. Weddings are expensive, not a free for all to come eat up your food, take pics and be included on a hashtag. You don’t want to look back in 8 years at your wedding album saying, “I haven’t heard from Jane and Tim since the wedding.”
Which leads me to budgeting. We all want a beautiful wedding, but set a realistic budget for yourself ahead of time. If you know your max is $50,000, budget for $40,000 or if your max is $250,000, budget for $200,000, more than likely you will go over budget and this way you’ll have some wiggly room. The last thing you want to do is to go into a marriage with a rack of debt (try not to take out loans or max out several credit cards, if possible). We all have different incomes and amounts of bills, so what you can afford, I may not be able to and vice versa. Plan a wedding for you and your pockets. Think about after the wedding too. Are you planning on buying a house or starting a family soon, these will also come with a price tag .
My husband and I had a baby, brought a house and got married within a year’s span. My dream was to have this over the top wedding. While planning it, the amount kept increasing and the guestlist was getting way out of hand. We ended up nixing the idea of a wedding in our hometown and had a destination wedding. Much cheaper, but so much fun. One day, maybe in a few years for our 10 year anniversary, I’ll have my big dream wedding.
One last bit of advice that I want to leave you all with is, while it’s fun and exciting to plan a wedding, spend more time planning for a successful marriage!
I don’t think I will ever be able to express the amount of happiness we’ve felt due to the extreme success of SUPERGORGE SOCIETY: WOMEN’S MONTH BRUNCH. It’s always rewarding to see your hard work pay off. Deciding to launch the SUPERGORGE SOCIETY series during Women’s Month allowed us to bring many different women from several backgrounds and professions together for an afternoon of pure positivity.
Thank you so very much to our amazing panelists Sevyn, Brave, Ashley T. Moore, Danielle Lewis and Angie Ange, you all were so honest and inspiring to our guests and also to us. During the course of the panel discussion, each of the panelists shared their stories of trials and tribulations which lead them to the road of success that they all are on now. Some of the key points that I took away was to remain true to who you really are, don’t conform to a life others think you are supposed to live and never give up, EVER!!!!!
Thank you to our amazing vendors, the Kitchen Cray team for an amazing brunch, our family and friends for helping us with set up, Diego/Sunbelt for providing unlimited mimosas for the brunch, Intropix for the step & repeat, as well as photography, our DJ, Soupa Model, Kendria Kupkakes, the staff of OPERA LOUNGE, Camille Montage PR and of course all of our amazing guests. It was so great to meet and chat with so many of you.
We are already working on the next installment of SuperGorge Society! Let us know who you would like to see on the panel!! Mark your calendars for Early Summer!!
“The Supergorge Society Women’s Month Brunch was a huge success. Why? Because it was a sold out event? Because there was a panel that included celebrities? Well, yes and no. While both statements are true, that’s not what defines the success of the event for me. A sold out event is a great thing but I value quality over quantity. A celebrity appearance is great but I value substance over existence. Therefore, this event was a success because it included aspects of value and nothing can be deemed a success without being able to define its value. The vibe throughout was positive from start to end and to quote of one the featured panelist Angie Ange of WKYS, there were definitely some souls that spoke to my soul. All of the panelist openly shared experiences, thoughts, advice, and words of encouragement that were honest, motivating, and intriguing; and while I credit them for their words, I also have to credit Ashley Silva and L’oreal of Supergorge who did beyond amazing moderating and guiding the discussion with thoughtful and meaningful questions. I know I share the same sentiment as many in attendance when I say that I walked away with at least one takeaway from each panelist. In addition, I personally received confirmation on a decision that I have been battling with regarding transitioning from my current career to pursue something that I feel like I should be doing (Thanks Danielle!). I’m a strong believer that God sends us messages in all kinds of ways and sometimes using the most unconventional methods and most unexpected people as vessels. With that being said, I’m sure I’m not the only person that received a message or confirmation whether it was from one of the beautiful ladies of the panel or one of the beautiful ladies in attendance. The theme of the event easily became about opening up and sharing your story because you never know who you’ll inspire or be inspired by and this was phenomenal considering that as woman we all share a common bond and different but yet similar experiences. In an age where it’s easy to get sucked into opportunities to tear one another apart it was refreshing to see us building one another up and being encouraged to do so. I’ve been blessed to begin a new week with a new perspective (and a belly full of awesome food) and I’m anxiously awaiting the next Supergorge Society event. ” – Alicia Pryor
Every year the BET HONORS are held in Washington, DC at the Warner Theatre. Every year my husband, DJ Quicksilva and I get all dressed up to attend. This year’s honorees were Kanye West, Usher and Phylicia Rashad. Charlie Wilson, K. Michelle, Trey Songz, Mary J. Blige, Neyo and Patti Labelle gave stellar performances. This year’s show may have been the best yet. Wayne Brady did an excellent job as the host. And Kim Kardashian (you guys know I love her) looked absolutely flawless. The 2015 BET HONORS air on February 23, 2015. Tune in!!!
I have to give a HUGE thank you to RENT THE RUNWAY in Washington, DC (Georgetown) for helping me to find the prefect dress for the event. For years I’ve been a little apprehensive about renting a dress. Someone else has worn this before!! What did they do in it? LOL. But on the other hand, it’s the same thing that celebs do all the time (rent/borrow dresses for award shows). So I decided to finally give them a try. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone of fitted dresses and try something fun and very girly. Store Stylist Samantha, was amazingly helpful in me finding the perfect dress and necklace, which I paired with my Glitter Christian Louboutins. I look forward to returning to Rent The Runway the next time I’m in need of something for a special event.
Over this past weekend I attended the private HEADS OF STATEdinner/reception, hosted by rapper, actor and reality star, TI as well as his clothing brand Akoo. Although I knew the event would be more laid back and some nice jeans, tank and a blazer would probably be more event outfit appropriate, I feel it’s always time to be #TeamOverdressed (shoutout to Adrienne Bosh, lol). Plus I’ve kind of been stuck in the house, so any reason for me to get dolled up, I’m taking it, lol.
This winter it’s all about the coat and monochromatic looks. Last month I did “ALL NUDE EVERYTHING,”keeping with the same trend I decided to almost replicate that outfit, but in different shades of Gray (and silver). I’ve added pictures from my night and well as the details of my look!!
P.S. Quick took all my pictures before we left home. I’ve got to get him some fashion blogger photography lessons, lol.
I hope that you all had a great holiday with your family and friends this season. Remember it is nice to get gifts, but it’s more important to give and to make memories that will last a life time!!! I have to give a huge thank you to everyone who helped make #SUPERGORGECHRISTMAS 2014 a success. Every Christmas IAMSUPERGORGE.com provides families in the DMV (DC, MD,VA) area with a full Christmas, including shoes, clothes, underwear, outerwear, toys, games, dinner and this year furniture, for one of our families who’s house caught on fire in November.
This year’s SUPERGORGE CHRISTMAS was extra special for me as we took along my children Antonioand Ashton, to make deliveries to the families. It’s extremely important for me to instill in my children the importance of giving back and doing for others.
Thank you to all of our friends, family and readers who donated gifts, money and time (especially our 5am wrap crew Farzana, Marquis, Janeen, Angela and DJ P Drama) because of you we were able to put smiles (and tears) on this year’s families faces, leaving them with not only a great Christmas, but with memories that will last forever and letting them know that there are amazing people in this world who care about the well being of others.
Also a very special thank you to our sponsors that weren’t filmed, DTLR for always donating shoes for every member of our adopted families, Metro Wing House (4404 St Barnabas Rd Marlow Heights, MD 20748) for providing a full Christmas dinner and Dawn Marie for your gracious monetary donation, you guys were the cherry on our pie. Lol.
Also a huge thank you to donators April Henderson and Robin Ankiwale.
A huge thank also goes out to our videographer, Alex and of course Team SuperGorge (L’Ore’al, Aleeecia and Erica) and DJ Quicksilva for all of your efforts!!
I look forward to SUPERGORGE CHRISTMAS 2015 being bigger and better than ever!!
Take a look at pics from My Christmas Eve’s Eve party (a thank you to our friends), our late night/early morning wrapping and heading out for deliveries!!!
With the holidays here, we all are looking for a way to save a coin. Along with hundreds of gifts you have to buy and the large dinners to plan for, you also have to entertain all of those out-of-town family members who want to party in DC. Why not take them to DC’s premier restaurant and nightclub, THE PARK AT THE 14TH for free? Throughout the month of December, you and all your friends and family can get in for free, any Thursday-Saturday on us until Midnight.
It’s my favorite time of the year again!!! I am absolutely obsessed with the Christmas holiday. I’ve already started my Christmas shopping for this year! I am so ready to get to decorating the house, wrapping gifts and spending time with those who mean the most to me.
In 2011 IAMSUPERGORGE.com started A SUPERGORGE CHRISTMAS. I’m sure you all know by now that I absolutely love Halloween. It’s my second favorite Holiday. When it comes to my costumes, simply picking up something from party city isn’t enough for me. I either usually get the entire thing made or buy something and then get it heavily altered. For the past few years I’ve really wanted to be “Queen Akasha,” Aaliyah’s character from the movie Queen of The Damned. I’ve always been obsessed with Vampires (they are so sexy) and Egypt ( I was Cleopatra in 2011) and of course I absolutely adore Aaliyah. So this year I decided I would do it, but getting the costume together was no easy task.
I started my search for the most difficult pieces, the headpiece and bra, in August of this year. I finally found the crown and metal bra that would suffice for the costume on Etsy. They were a little costly for costume pieces (BRA& HEAD PIECE ), but I really wanted them, so it was well worth it. It took over a month for the pieces to arrive, they were both handmade. Once the headpiece and bra arrived, they were great in shape, but very blah. Aaliyah’s costume was very ornate with jewels everywhere. She was the Queen of all vampires and looked the part. I knew I had to spruce up the pieces.
I consider myself a very creative person, I can come up with concepts and ideas at the drop of a dime. However, while God gave me vision, he didn’t necessarily give me artistic skills, such as painting, drawing or sewing, I get so frustrated with it. But that’s why he gave us friends, to help us where we lack. One of my friends, Courtney, is an art teacher, she decorated the headpiece and bra for me and completely made my gorgeous neckpiece. Another one of my friends, Marsha, who is a seamstress made my armband sleeve, skirt and belt. For finishing touches I wore the latest trend of Flash Tattoos from KING ME ACCESSORIES on my belly to cover my “love marks,” my friend, hair stylist, Erin made my hair bone straight and had my Queen Akasha makeup done by my friend/makeup artist, Farzana. Team work, makes the dream work, lol. The look came together perfectly, I was so happy with it and received so many compliments on it. I hope I did you proud Aaliyah!!!
My husband was supposed to be the vampire Lestat, but last-minute (2 days before Halloween) decided he wanted to be Hulk Hogan, lol. I pulled off getting everything for his costume and he looked so funny and was in character all night. I love that all of our friends and family really get into the holiday and dress up. It’s always so fun to see everyone’s costumes and their creativity.
I’m already excited for next year’s Halloween and have 5 costume ideas in mind, lol!!! Take a look at pics of my friends, family and I from Halloween!!
I can’t believe it’s already been 12 years since the 16 year old me, met you. Since I stalked you on BlackPlanet (yes, I’ll finally admit it). Even back then, I knew you were the one! Thru all of our ups and downs, back and forths, the “you really think you’ll marry him,” I knew. We beat the odds. We proved many very wrong. We have a real life Carrie/Big relationship.
5 years ago, I married my best friend. I know to some it may sound cliche, but it’s the truth. We are far from perfect, but we are perfect for one another. Our lives are unconventional, no 9-5’s, no dinner at 6pm every night, no weekly Saturday date nights. We aren’t what the text-book would say to be normal. Not many could deal with our lifestyle. Already, we’ve beat the odds. In this business, with the long long days and extra long nights, ’round the clock schedules and the missed family functions. The side of us, that the rest of the world doesn’t know exists. We’ve proven you can still have a real relationship. NO show. NO faking. This is us. Ash & Quick, The Silvas.
Thank you for loving me for who I truly am, the real me, the emotional me, the outspoken me, the silly me. The me that doesn’t always love or believe in myself. I pray that one day I will see myself the way that you see me, the way that you love and believe in me. You are the only person that knows all of my fears, doubts and insecurities and inspite of them all you still love me. Whenever my past/childhood issues arise in the present, you’re always there to let me know that it’s just that, the past. You allow me to walk to the beat of my own drum, without hindering me or trying to change the person that I am.
I understand why some may believe that our relationship is too good to be true. We always overcome all obstacles. We are completely honest with one another and allow each other to be who we are. We’ve learned to accept each other flaws, and know that that’s what makes us unique. If I weren’t us, I’d want the type of relationship we have.
Thank you for all of your support, encouragement, and pushing that you do for me. Because of you, I am the woman who I am today. Everyday you lift my spirit, even when you don’t know you do.
Thank you for drying every tear, listening to every rant and trying to solve all of my problems, even when they are unsolvable. Thank you for loving me, loving the real me. I know at times it’s hard and almost impossible. The me that often doesn’t love herself. The me that NO ONE else knows exist. I’m a better woman and a better person because of you. You’ve helped me become the woman I am. You’ve pushed me when I wanted to give up. Thank you for supporting me 150%. For believing in my dreams and seeing my true potential and talent and never discouraging me. Thank you for never judging me or discouraging me from wanting to be more. Thank you for demanding that I never give up on myself.
Thank you for being the father to our children, that I wished I had. You’re their hero and best friend, as well as mine. The way you interact with our children makes me fall more and more in love with you everyday. You are a man, a real man. Everything that man a man should be, you are.
Like Kanye said a dream girl deserves a dream world. And everyday I wake up into a dream world, a world many wish they could have. I have a dream husband. A husband that truly loves me for me. I don’t think that there are enough thank you’s or words that could describe my love for you. My love for you is stronger than you’ll ever know.
I believe in love. I believe in soul mates. I believe in the one.
I found my one 12 years ago. 5 years ago I married him.
After 5 yrs marriage, 8 yrs living together 12 years of knowing each other, I still feel like that 16 yr old girl who gets butterflies when you call.
Beyond being a great husband and father, I respect you for being a great man. I don’t know many men like you.
If I had to do it all again, all the ups down, arguments, break ups, make ups etc., I would to have what we have now. In this day it’s so rare but yet, for us it’s so real.
Last week for Ciroc Week2014, I, along with So Much To Smile About, A Loyal LoveandNecessary & Proper, hosted a fashion Blogger’s Happy Hour at New Town Kitchen & Bar in Washington, DC. Of course the Ciroc drinks were flowing! Thank you to my friends L’Ore’al, Kendria, Farzana, Dave, Donna, Courtney, Yodit, Khayla and Rayfor being there to support me and of course to my Ciroc fam, Quicksilva, King Flexxa, Glen Hodge, Sunniand MokiMedia PRfor having IAMSUPERGORGE.com be apart of this event and Ciroc Week 2014!!! Can’t wait to do it up bigger and better next year!!
Check out some pictures & video from the event and get details on my outfit! My go to style these days is a toss up between jumpsuits and skirts paired with crop tops!!
In a few weeks, IAMSUPERGORGE.com will feature a new segment, HE SAID WHAT?. Where we ask men all the questions that the ladies want to know!!! Before we premiere that, I thought it would be fun to interview my husband,DJ Quicksilva for the 1st time. Over the years I’ve learned so much from him about life and business and truly know I married my soulmate (awwwww). Take a look at what Quick had to say about everything from the type of music he plays as a DJ, what he’d be doing if he wasn’t a DJ, doing reality TV, men being faithful and groupies. We both also revealed our biggest pet peeves about one another.
