GEORGE ZIMMERMAN RELEASED ON BAIL
Last night, Zimmerman was released from Seminole County Jail. Geroge Zimmerman has bailed out on a $150k bond being charged with second-degree murder of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman has claimed self-defense under Florida’s “stand your ground” law, which eliminates a person’s duty to retreat under threat of death or serious injury.
At his release hearing on Friday Judge Kenneth Lester ordered, Zimmerman must wear an electronic monitoring device and he may be allowed to leave the state. He also must observe a dusk-to-dawn curfew and he is prohibited from consuming illegal drugs or alcohol or possessing a firearm.
Zimmerman thought it was wise to use his bail hearing as a way to ‘apologize’ to Treyvon Martin’s parents,
“I wanted to say I am sorry for the loss of your son. I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little bit younger than I am and I did not know if he was armed or not.”
